Wednesday co-creator Alfred Gough weighs in on where the key Addams Family member Uncle Fester is in the highly-anticipated Netflix series.
Originally imagined as Morticia's maternal uncle, Fester's backstory was later tweaked in the Addams Family movies where he was depicted as Gomez's brother. Despite his menacing appearance (bald, stooping, sunken eyes) and bizarre behavior (ability to generate electricity, finding pleasure in migraines), Fester has also been kind and humble. He treats Gomez and Morticia with respect and adores Wednesday and Pugsley despite all their mischief. Over the years, audiences have grown to see Fester as an integral member of the Addams household, so his absence from the Wednesday cast logically surprised and intrigued many as to why the show is fielding any mention of the beloved Addams uncle.
